We aim to shift the paradigm from seeking opportunities elsewhere to creating them right here in our region, leveraging the unique natural and cultural wealth of the Mantiqueira Mountains.”
    • Mission: “To identify and nurture senior school learners with high potential, guiding them through a hands-on journey of entrepreneurial discovery. This course will equip them with the mindset, skills, and network to transform local challenges into viable business opportunities, with a constant focus on community well-being, environmental stewardship, and collaborative leadership.”

    • Target Audience: Senior school learners (ages 17-18) from the Passa Quatro region.

Slide 4: Finding the “Out-of-the-Box” Thinkers: Selection Process

Beyond Grades: Our Merit-Based Selection Process

  • Content: “This is not about grades, but about potential. The selection process is designed to identify ‘out-of-the-box’ thinkers.” This can be best achieved working with school teachers who already know the students well.
    • Phase 1: Application & Creative Challenge
      • Application Form: Personal details as well as Motivation (Focus on connection to region, perceived problems and opportunities, and passions.)
      • Creative Challenge: Short (2-3 min) video/visual presentation responding to “Identify one thing in our community you’d like to improve and creatively explain a small way you could start solving it.” (Assesses problem identification, creativity, communication.)

Slide 5: Selection Process (Collaborative Minds)

  • Content:
    • Phase 2: Collaborative Problem-Solving Workshop
      • Workshop for all shortlisted candidates.
      • Work in small groups on a real-world local challenge, observed by facilitators. (Assess teamwork, logical thinking, innovation, leadership potential.)
    • Phase 3: Final Selection
      • Based on the application, the creative challenge, and workshop performance.

Slide 6: Course Overview: Structure & Duration

Your Entrepreneurial Journey

  • Content:
    • Duration: 6 Months (April to September)
    • Format: One weekly 3-hour meeting (classroom workshop, guest speaker, field project work).
    • Groups: There will be three groups of six students in each group
    • Core Methodologies: Project-based learning, peer-to-peer mentoring, design thinking, continuous integration of tools with an emphasis on AI tools.
    • The Pitch: The judges (local business personalities) who will take the role as potential investors will decide on the winning group by evaluating all three presentations at an event in September

MONTH 1: (Together as a group)
Seeing with New Eyes

  • Theme: The Entrepreneurial Mindset & Our Local Ecosystem
  • Learning Objectives: Understanding sustainable, purpose-driven entrepreneurship, identifying Mantiqueira’s assets, growth mindset and personality types to create a winning team.
  • Key Activities:
    • “Asset Mapping”: Exploration of local resources.
    • Guest Speaker Series: Local entrepreneurs, environmentalists, community leaders.
    • Putting together a MVP
  • Outcome: By the end of the first month the three groups of six need to be identified

Identifying Opportunities with Purpose

MONTH 2: From Problems to Possibilities

  • Theme: Identifying Opportunities with Purpose
  • Learning Objectives: Systematically identify needs, conduct market research, define problem statements.
  • Key Activities:
    • Community “Safari”: Interviewing residents, business owners, tourists.
    • Focus Area Deep Dive: Researching ecotourism, sustainable agriculture, reforestation, circular economy, digital tourism.
  • Project: “Opportunity Pitch” based on validated problem.

Designing the Sustainable Venture

MONTH 3: Building the Blueprint

  • Theme: Designing the Sustainable Venture
  • Learning Objectives: Sustainable business models, business plan, value proposition, startup finance, impact measurement.
  • Key Activities:
    • Business Model Canvas Workshop.
    • “Finance for Founders” workshop.
    • Tools for research, drafting business plans, financial projections, marketing strategies.

MONTH 4: We Are Stronger Together

  • Learning Objectives: Leadership as influencer / collaboration, networking / communication skills, building strategic partnerships.

    • “The Art of the Ask”: Role-playing.
    • The Mentorship Network Inception: Formalizing peer-to-peer support.

    • Prototyping Lab: Hands-on session for MVP creation.
    • Feedback Fair: Students present prototypes for feedback.
    • Pitching Masterclass: Storytelling, structuring, public speaking.
    • AI Tools Workshop 4: AI for pitch decks and presentation practice.
